Wait so let me get this straight. Luke’s (obviously) trying to rig the PoW function selection for his coin, probably cause he has ASICs for one option.
So….he’s just trying to create a coin he can premine so he can dump it on the BIP 110 followers? Man that’s low af.

#Золото

https://gemini.google.com/app/bd84ac1057e82d7c
Bitcoin Mechanic says the rejection of BIP110 on Saturday "shattered a long-standing belief that Bitcoin's anti-fragility and hard-monetary properties would continue thanks to its decentralized network of nodes."
He argues that mining pools acted as "a small cartel of centralized pool operators clearly acting on behalf of industry players who operated behind closed doors" to kill BIP110, while supporters "operated in public" using "neutral metrics that everyone had access to."
His core concern is that "Proof of Work is completely pointless if the criteria for what constitutes validity is decided by the ones doing the work."
He says he's now running a stalled Knots node at block 931,633 and is open to a hard fork with a new proof-of-work algorithm, stating "the only defense the network would have would be to hard-fork to a new Proof-of-Work algorithm."
He closes by saying he has "no desire to attempt to call this new chain Bitcoin" and that captured Bitcoin "becomes a tool for the sickest of purposes."

If you’d like some tea with your coffee. My horrors today are Airbnb related. Turns out they let us book a place that is in the midst of eviction proceedings. Now they’ve canceled our reservation at 12:41am local time while we were still here, sleeping. Oh and I’m traveling for medical care. So between having an eviction notice posted on the door of our Airbnb and talking to their support line I was at the hospital getting tests. I just got here yesterday morning. 😭☕️

Talk my out of mortgaging my house to buy a $100,000 rig to run kimi-k3 at home
Has @npub1lh2…a9nk completely lost the plot? Pardon my reading comprehension but to my understanding he decided to use a laughable oracle withing less than 6h to pick the next mining algorithm of what he believes to be Bitcoin? Why laughable? **He** picked a mapping from last digits of the block hash to PoW algorithm. He picked **Testnet4** of all chains - a chain with difficulty **1**. He did not show the mapping to anybody, so only **he** knows the mapping. A modern mining rig can produce many candidate Testnet4 blocks per second, so he can comfortably pick or if somebody else does the same, orphan them or if several engage in this mess ... why not just use the bitcoin chain??? Or at least Doge Coin???
"Nobody knows the new algorithm right now, and nobody will until we all know at the same moment" is just untrue for him.

Not your intelligence, not your rights.
No matter how much of your own intelligence goes into a document, if #Claude touched it, it comes out marked as AI generated since August 2.
Consequences for small NGOs using AI to cut costs on design and translation: a witness statement translated into English, a testimony de-identified to protect the source, a report an exiled activist ran through Claude to fix their grammar, all carry the same mark as “fabricated content”.
Once detection tools are public, “this NGO report is AI-generated” becomes the cheapest discrediting line available to the governments we document. The honest caveats in Anthropic’s small print will not travel with the accusation.
European Commission declared #Europe a place for innovation. This is not the way to do it….
Would I stop using AI to defend human rights?
No. Dictators and bad actors already use every tool available to repress people.
We should be able to use every tool available to protect them.
So here's the plan for selecting Bitcoin's new PoW algorithm:
Nobody knows the new algorithm right now, and nobody will until we all know at the same moment.
At 14:00 UTC August 11th, we will begin watching Bitcoin's Testnet4 chain for new blocks.
The very next block found, look at the block hash.
The last character will choose the new algorithm.
(Note that testnet4 blocks are typically timestamped wrong!)
As soon as I see that block, I will reveal the mapping showing which algorithm that character represents.
Throughout the last 24+ hours, the community has discussed and made a short list of candidate algorithms.
I compiled that list into a weighted (according to their suitability) set of options for the mapping list.
You can prove I didn't rig it, by SHA256 hashing the mapping text file.
It will match 71a7960874f3352f4ba600ce67bd6f8e96702565abea93021fa86349d99a45e8

I wonder if this was the hash bounty offered to pools to stand down on mandatory signalling day.
Saylor said the money was “committed,” not given. Was this their co-insurance policy in case some larger pool broke ranks and started wiping out a significant number of blocks? Probably.
They even disclosed it publicly, which would make the commitment look more credible.
That could even explain why no one ran a URSF. Why waste energy fighting a social war when you can simply bribe a few large entities with a big enough pile of money to guarantee their cooperation? If things got according to plan, no money would have been lost anyway.

I used to believe in the IDEA of Bitcoin too. Watching the current internet war over BIP-110 or "pure" chains is exhausting. A religious war over a software protocol. It's ridiculous and out of touch with reality.
Bitcoin is not a messiah, it won't end central banking or dismantle the fiat monetary system. It's just a highly liquid, uncorrelated, asymmetric asset that you can hold without counterparty risk.
Use the tool to protect you and your family. It won't save the world, but if used pragmatically it can save yours.

Now that the BIP-110 saga is over, it's probably a good time to reflect.
In my opinion, BIP-110 failing is long-term good for BIP-110 supporters.
The BIP-110 question was:
- OK, Bitcoin mining is insanely centralized, so are the 5 mining pools (who share the same boss) going to get an order to do nothing, or will they be instructed to pretend that nodes actually matter?
From my old post "Who holds the Power in the Bitcoin ecosystem (does your node matter" - ( https://controlplanecapital.com/p/who-holds-the-power-in-the-bitcoin ):
- Bitcoin does not run on ideals; it runs on coordination between code, hash, and liquidity — and those are controlled by a few dozen institutional actors who can synchronize quickly. Core defaults + pool templates + venue policies decide reality. Users matter only when they can coordinate economic liquidity, which is rare. Expect future changes to follow the same political playbook.
In that post, I put "ordinary user nodes" last in the power stack.
If BIP-110 had succeeded based on decentralization theater and misguided "game theory" circus, BIP-110 supporters would still be living a lie.
Stop listening to boomer Bitcoiners who tell you that "Bitcoin is decentralized and secure" and do some of your own research.
Bitcoin is not decentralized and secure, it was simply allowed to look that way ( https://controlplanecapital.com/p/is-bitcoin-decentralized-and-secure ).
Until you realize that we live under something very close to a One World Government ( https://controlplanecapital.com/p/how-i-know-we-live-under-a-one-world ), your attempts at game theory are worse than useless.
Most people are just too mentally weak to face our current reality and would rather live a lie.
To understand why Bitcoin will fail as mass, non-custodial Medium-of-Exchange, read this article ( https://controlplanecapital.com/p/bitcoin-will-fail-as-mass-non-custodial ).
And no, "firing the miners" will not be nearly enough.
To understand why Bitcoin was most likely created by the government, read this article ( https://controlplanecapital.com/p/why-i-think-the-government-created ).
If you are too heavily into Bitcoin and down bad on your position, I hope our jewish overlords give Saylor a $1 trillion loan at 0% interest so he can pump the BTC price.
Then, more people will focus on what actually matters:
- your health, your community, your skills, your adaptability, tools, machinery, weapons, self-sufficiency, gold, silver, Monero (if you need digital cash), land that produces food, energy, local services, cattle, etc.
Usually, as the governability of the holder base of an asset increases (more captured, more in the system), our fiat overlords are more incentivized to pump its fiat-denominated price.
( This is of course an oversimplification. )
If Bitcoin's fiat price pumps, most Bitcoiners will quickly forget that BTC is a captured asset, so you usually get fiat gains as a gift for being a good, little goy.
In another post, I'll cover how I got lucky and sold 85% of my BTC at 113K and the remaining 15% at 95K. (Basically my opinion on why the Bitcoin cycle exists)
I'd only use Bitcoin for speculating (trying to mine fiat), and as of now, I'm staying away because I don't think that the incoming Quantum scam is priced in ( https://controlplanecapital.com/p/a-quantum-resistance-upgrade-would ).
The main difficulty in group messaging is consensus.
How does a group of people agree on what key to encrypt the next message too. If people disagree, someone can't decrypt the messages of someone else. That's a fork in the group state, it's quite a similar problem to Bitcoin.
Contrary to Bitcoin, in most group messaging systems you know exactly who the group members are, which makes things easier.
The main hurdle for marmot specifically is that there is no central server whom you can trust with ordering messages properly. Every client has to be a "fully validating node" and create "the blockchain" of messages so that they're in the exact same order as everyone else.
Cordn takes a different approach, each group has one central coordinator who is trusted with message ordering. This massively simplifies the consensus problem, and reduces the amount of complexity in the client. This likely means cordn is relatively more stable than marmot if the coordinator is honest. And cordn uses lots of fancy tricks to make this central coordinator as blind and trust minimized as possible, and easy to run even in a browser tab.
This is somewhat similar to Bitcoin CoinJoin, almost impossible to do fully decentralized (only coin shuffle achieved it in theory) so everyone built centralized coordination models (even joinmarket) and then Wasabi optimized the coordinator to be blind and trust minimized.
So to some extend Marmot is trying to achieve the impossible, decentralized encrypted group messaging, many wizards keep telling us this is too difficult and probably impossible to achieve. But let's see, it smells to me like we're close on actually making it work...

I wish Bitcoin truly the best.
I still hold my Bitcoin and keep my eyes open.
But based on the recent revelations about Core, about the [de]centralization state of Bitcoin, about the big players and big VCs in Bitcoin I think an alternative is needed.
And I think it is needed just like Bitcoin Knots was needed when Core decided to act against node runners and was revealed that they are compromised and corrupted.
When that happened 20% of the node runners migrated to Bitcoin Knots in a matter of days and 55% did not upgrade to the malicious to the network version Core 30.
Currently Core are assuming all the power, after their victory over BIP-110 and have removed Luke as BIP editor. But even with Luke as part of Core they pushed the OP_RETURN blow up against opposition of 4:1, so they already possessed the power over the protocol.
Now Core are completely free to do whatever they want with the protocol or more accurately what their VC funders and the big Consortium tells them.
As we have already seen the direction will most probably be Ethereum 2.0 programmable money/database with smart contracts, BitVM etc.
For now Bitcoin still functions as it used to be, which is good.
But I see it as really good idea to have more conservative monetary version of Bitcoin that resembles as best as possible Satoshi's blueprints.
It will be small, tiny but it will be there and it will be an option. Just like Bitcoin Knots was an option and for most of the time was less than 1% of the nodes network.
And as we see the market needs different solutions.
I think Monero ecosystem are also freedom fighters but more focused on privacy and in that regard it complements Bitcoin.
Freedom of choice is a good thing. Its a human right. 🧡

Not far off, to what would be the left in this photo, is a thrust fault subduction zone where the younger plate was overtaken by an older plate. (It's a cool spot to explore. There's a 2 ft wide creek at the center of it. Within a couple of steps, you can be in 2 very different geologic, and in turn ecologic, environments.) The massive thrust pressure and relatively high rate of speed at which the thrusting events occurrd created a series of dramatic synclines and anticlines that make up the backbone of the entire ridge. This particular section buckled and collapsed, creating the canyon that channels the river that is there today.

Trump ‘flailing around’ over unwinnable Iran war – John Mearsheimer (VIDEO)
It is “amazing” how much the conflict has depleted US weaponry stocks, the political scientist from the University of Chicago says
Published 10 Aug, 2026 16:42 | Updated 10 Aug, 2026 17:
US President Donald Trump knows he can neither sustain nor win a protracted war against Iran, political scientist and University of Chicago professor John Mearsheimer has said.
In an interview with Going Underground host Afshin Rattansi broadcast on RT on Sunday, Mearsheimer suggested that recent reports of dwindling US munitions stocks were based on leaks from officials in Trump’s own circle who want the war to end sooner.
The war on Iran has faced opposition from both US lawmakers and the public. A $1.15 trillion defense spending bill on which military contracts hinge remains deadlocked in the Senate, while multiple polls have shown broad opposition to war spending.
Media reports have meanwhile questioned how the Trump administration plans to replenish weapons stocks after months of fighting. The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) estimated last month that Patriot interceptor stocks had fallen at least 65% from pre-war levels, while THAAD inventories were down around 38%.

Trump has vehemently denied shortages, but last week acknowledged that supplies of some unspecified systems were “a little bit tighter.” The Washington Post reported on Saturday that the Pentagon is pressing US arms makers to accelerate production, citing a Department of War memo to industry leaders.
Mearsheimer said that the before the war started, General Daniel Caine was warning Trump that the US had limited stocks of munitions and could not fight a protracted conflict. Yet the US is now doing exactly that, he stated, adding that “it’s amazing the extent to which we have depleted our stockpile of sophisticated weaponry.”
Pentagon pushes arms makers to boost output as Iran war drains stocks – WaPoREAD MORE: Pentagon pushes arms makers to boost output as Iran war drains stocks – WaPo
“And I think that someone who knows it has leaked this information in large part to send out a clear message that the Iran war has to end,” Mearsheimer said, warning that further escalation would do “even more damage to our weapons inventory.”
Mearsheimer argued that the situation is dire enough for Trump to recognize there is no clear path forward, noting he has still neither ordered new attacks nor accepted Iran’s demands to end the war.
“I would imagine at this point in time that President Trump has come to recognize that there’s no way he can win this war. And that’s why I like to argue that he’s flailing around,” Mearsheimer said.

The scholar went on to argue that regardless of how or when the conflict ends, it will likely leave the US military presence in the Middle East greatly diminished. With many bases badly damaged or destroyed over the past five months, Washington may be reluctant to rebuild them, he argued, while Gulf states may no longer want to host US assets and again become a “giant magnet” for Iranian attacks.

The Bitcoin network is under attack, and block production has slowed significantly.
The community is preparing mitigations to resolve the situation. In the meantime, attackers are spreading misinformation and advising users to downgrade or switch to insecure node software.
Users are strongly advised not to downgrade or switch to software that weakens Bitcoin's consensus protections. Doing so may compromise your security and expose you to false confirmations from blocks that are invalid under Bitcoin's consensus rules.
If you have already downgraded, upgrade to the latest version of Bitcoin Knots. Knots will attempt to repair the resulting chain state and return your node to the valid chain.
Miners who restart their nodes may need to add the following to bitcoin.conf:

Zuckerberg says these AI agents could eventually help people across nearly every part of life, including work, learning, relationships, and mental health, as Meta releases its new open-weight "Muse Glimmer" model and pushes to make advanced AI more widely accessible.
At the same time, Meta is investing in the people and communities behind that future, including America’s Workforce Academy and a $1 billion community fund tied to its growing data-center footprint.
His message is simple: "The future is for everyone."

1. ASIC resistance means you have less hash security. OCEAN mining pools are a better system for mining decentralization
2. Layer 2 solutions solve on chain transaction fees and time
3. Nobody checks "tainted dollars" by looking at the serial number and checking whether it was used previously for an illicit transaction. Also Lightning Network sidesteps that issue as well
4. Nobody will know whose coins are who, pseudonymous
5. The 2140 fee transition is fantastic, miners will have more than enough time to adjust

I was a BIP-110 supporter and I’m returning to the legacy chain.
I would have liked the miners to flip the bit to signal for BIP-110 but it’s not worth it at this point. Here’s why:
BIP-110 didn’t fail because bitcoin is captured. It failed because there wasn’t enough support for BIP-110.
Less than 20% of nodes were running it. Much less hashrate was supporting it.
I want to try to draw a parallel to the physical world:
If the people of the Midwest decide they want to tighten the rules for the entire USA, why would the USA make that change if they don’t feel the need to.
The people of the Midwest say “We’re going to enforce these rules across the country and we think you should too.”
The rest of the country says, “How are you going to enforce that?”
The Midwest says, “Well, we’re all going to enforce it in the Midwest and about 15% of us have guns.”
The country says, “How are you going to enforce that if you only make up 20% of the entire USA and only 15% of you have guns?”
The Midwest says, “Just watch, everyone else will enforce it, so you should too.”
My point is that if you want to make a change, you have to make some sacrifice. In the physical world people make sacrifices for change by putting themselves at risk both physically and financially. Not enough BIP-110 supporters really put any skin in the game.
They ran BIP-110 nodes but they didn’t have enough conviction to put enough money into buying hashrate and mining bitcoin to actually enforce it.
Back to my analogy, it would be like the Midwest saying, “We’re not going to spend any money on guns because we think the rest of the country who owns guns will enforce our rule, even though they said they won’t.”
It doesn’t mean miners are completely in control of bitcoin. Less than 20% of nodes were running BIP-110 and miners ignored it. It was the more conservative thing to do.
If 55% of nodes were running BIP-110, I don’t think miners would ignore it, even if hashrate was initially low.
The whole BIP-110 movement was really about resisting centralization. It wasn’t about spam. It was that high rates of spam and arbitrary data would make noderunning more difficult and lead to centralization.
At this point, now that BIP 110 is the minority chain, they're much more centralized than the legacy chain. the whole point of BIP 110 was to stop centralization and now BIP 110 is more centralized.

The Bitcoin Policy Institute just published an open letter asking AI labs to give open-source bitcoin and digital asset defenders access to their strongest cybersecurity models.
The problem: "Open-source defenders today occupy the least privileged position in the AI security landscape."
Bitcoin secures over a trillion dollars in value, but the developers maintaining wallets, cryptographic libraries, and node software are getting blocked by guardrails when they try to use frontier AI for legitimate security work.
The letter warns that "nation-state adversaries, criminal syndicates, and sophisticated hackers will not wait for permission to deploy AI against critical open-source infrastructure."
Defenders are stuck using weaker open-weight alternatives while attackers face no such constraints.
BPI is asking for early access to the best cyber models, compute budgets for real security reviews, and secure environments for sensitive code analysis.
The coalition is massive: Coinbase, Block, Strategy, MARA, Blockstream, Chaincode, Brink, Ten31, Unchained, Trezor, Casa, Strike, River, OpenSats, and dozens more.
"Frontier AI could become one of the most powerful defensive technologies ever developed, but only if defenders get fair access."

I have this across-the-street neighbor. She’s probably early to mid-30s. She was super curvy & wore Lululemon workout attire every day. She wasn’t fat… just healthy, muscular & sexy-curvy.
Then, at the start of this year, she started taking GLP-1s. (she told my wife)
Now, she’s almost unrecognizable. All that muscular curviness has turned into straight, flat lines, & her face is narrower with her cheeks kind of collapsed.
I mean, is she actually healthier?
Hell if I know.
Does she look better?
Definitely not by my standards.
Anyway, it’s been a strange process to witness. The End.
I'm not on twitter but, I do think twitter is a disease for bitcoin (and pretty much all of society).
I think forks are cool, this bip110 stuff is an interesting way to start a fork that hasn't been tried before. Would I have preferred to not see all the negativity? Yes. Would I have preferred Luke float his commits and not do weird things in his fork that make it hard to understand what is going on? Yes. Am I concerned there are forks happening? No, I think that is normal and if anything I am surprised it doesn't happen more often.
No reason to be scared of, or angry about forks. IMO.
Hope the next fork rolls back some code even farther maybe.. and I hope it helps people understand forks better.

Introducing Stream Road! 🐪
I think of Stream Road as a bridge: Nostr live streaming that’s reliable enough to use, friendly enough to send normies to, and useful even if your stream starts somewhere else.
I got excited about Nostr live streaming because the basic idea is incredible: go live, talk to people, get zapped directly.
After using it for Scardust and Noa’s streams, and again while broadcasting our V4V festival from Belgrade, I kept finding little gaps between that idea and the experience I actually wanted to use. So over the last few months I decided to build it.
Stream Road is a frontend, UX and service built around Kieran’s excellent Zap Stream Core, with a lot of work put into making streams, chat and metadata behave consistently across Nostr clients, while making the whole thing less confusing for people who don’t already understand Nostr, Lightning, zaps etc..
There are some exciting additions too, like Zap Battle, where viewers zap between two choices and financially incentivise streamers to make questionable decisions.
And there’s one bigger experiment: card zaps.
Plenty of creators can’t receive Super Chats or similar support on the big platforms. Zaps already give them another way, but most normal audiences don’t have bitcoin or a Lightning wallet and probably aren’t going to stop watching a stream to figure it out.
So approved Stream Road streamers can receive support “by card” through PayPal, while Stream Road sends them a real Bitcoin Lightning zap and handles the exchange and bureaucracy behind it.
You don’t have to move your stream. If you’re already live through another Nostr server, sign in with the same Nostr account and your stream should appear in your Stream Road dashboard automatically. Permissioned streamers can also embed a YouTube livestream.
The card part is permissioned to prevent abuse, but Stream Road keeps pointing people towards the better option underneath it: Nostr and sats, directly, cheaper, freer and without asking anyone’s permission.
It’s early, and I’m sure we’ll break things. But it exists now. :)
Come try it and join the party!

I’m checking out fiat work opportunities on a regular basis, and sometimes I even apply for the gig. Let’s call it my guilty pleasure, keeping an eye on the overall market situation.
What worries me about the application process is that social media presence (esp linkedin) carries some serious weight. Sometimes even more than the portfolio itself. In other words, when I’m asked about it and say that I don’t do social media, eyebrows are raised, and it kinda feels like I’m instantly being red flagged.
(I even saw a few job application forms that had a mandatory linkedin URL field.)
What’s also weird is that most business/market people I know, some of them in pretty high places, they go - sure, linkedin is one big fake and bizarre space, but for the sake of biz, I can’t afford not to be there.
And note that this isn’t some ad and marketing thing, it’s purely personal branding issue, and in terms of social media culture, building your personal brand is therefore actually pretty limited, because you need to fit into that culture.
Add in using a nickname and a bandana portrait and I’m a no go even for “young and progressive” collectives.
And by the way, the exact same goes for most of bitcoin companies I tried to reach out to, too.
That’s messed up, right? It’s not just in my head…? 🤯

I've become a dev again. I have been building something in stealth mode up till now.
PageHold is a distributed version of the Wayback machine (Web Archive).
https://pagehold.cloud/
Holding page for now, it only contains a copy of mikehardcastle.com
The wayback machine (web archive) is a great historical resource for the web, giving snapshots of the web going back to 1996.
It suffers, however, from capacity and funding issues. As well as being under regular attacks, both legally and technically.
So I figured it was time to decentralise and build an app that allowed anybody to take web snapshots to store locally and share them globally.
I have just published a standalone version of this tool on GitHub:

The next stage will be to launch a global federated service that allows individuals to add their personal archives to a global, searchable resource and provide a public search engine.
I have already built this infrastructure, but I wanted to test the standalone service first before launching a fully federated service. Apart from the technical challenges, there are many legal, copyright and other issues surrounding a public service.
I am considering building in revenue stream options;
Either for myself, by offering pre-configured VPS versions that can be spun up and run as a paid for service.
Or by using a high search usage charging model, charging individuals or companies fees for bulk archive searching. This would collect and distribute fees among content contributors.
These are all options ready to go, depending on the feedback.
Before you ask, this isn’t a Bitcoin or NOSTR model, but I expect it will evolve into both over time.
Who has deleted LinkedIn? What ratholes did you fall into if any? I fucking hate the site. I can just ignore it, but would rather nuke it.

Bitcoiners have not read Don Quixote and learned the bitter lesson.
They don't view the world as is, but as it ought to be. To them, a network protocol is a crusade for human freedom. Despite being delusional and constantly defeated, there is a profound, tragic nobility in refusing to compromise your values. Idealism is infectious. To the idealist, surrendering the ideal and accepting the mundane, cynical reality is worse than death.
The idealist is doomed to fail in the real world. Paradoxically, a world without idealists is a hollow place.
At the end of the day Bitcoin is just a tool. Be pragmatic. Use it to improve your life. Don't make it your identity or personal crusade to save the world. Don't waste your time and energy fighting windmills thinking that they are ferocious giants.

As you know, I was a fan of knots because of its variety of filters and policies, but a critic of bip-110 because, as I said, that bip was dead on arrival.
I also warned that, for me, after the BIP-110 mess, Knots was dead and unreliable, so now I’m running that damn Core 31 with its trans and rainbow themes, but with op_return and baremultisig disabled.
That’s just how it is—we don’t have anything better.

Good morning. Have you stacked today?
I don't know how assets can even be owned, when no one has jobs. If we all get AI-ABI, we'd all have the same income. Where does the money to purchase assets then come from? Savings? So we make the current wealth disparities permanent?
Or do assets just become worthless as a savings vehicle and we just divvy them up amongst the populace by who is most favored by the government?
I mean, we could argue that we _already_ divvy them up that way...

Having been off Bitcoin Twitter/X for almost 4 years now, I did not keep up at all with the BIP110 issue until just recently. I only started looking into now to understand anything I might need to be aware of for my own bitcoin while they attempted to activate. I’m genuinely surprised by the names that keep turning up as strong supporters of BIP110, and I’m mind blown that some of them are continuing to support it toward a hard fork.

⚡️⛏️ NEW - @npub1lh2…a9nk SUGGESTS SEPT. 1 FOR BIP-110 PROOF-OF-WORK CHANGE BTC HARD FORK
Bitcoin developer Luke Dashjr suggested Sept. 1 as a potential target date for a BIP-110 proof-of-work change, saying it should occur when BIP-110 “would have activated.”
BIP-110 author Dathon Ohm says the community is now working on a proposal to change Bitcoin’s proof-of-work algorithm and “fire the miners,” accusing large mining pools of colluding against the BIP-110 movement.
Asked how the network would remain secure after firing existing miners, Ohm responded:
“We will hire new miners.”

"Bluetooth attacks exploit vulnerabilities in wireless protocols to gain unauthorized access, steal data, or disrupt device functionality. These threats range from legacy issues like Bluesnarfing (data theft) and Bluebugging (device control) to modern exploits such as BlueBorne (remote takeover without pairing) and BIAS (impersonation attacks).
Common attack vectors include:
Data Theft: Bluesnarfing allows hackers to steal contacts, messages, and files from discoverable devices.
Device Control: Bluebugging enables attackers to make calls, send texts, or monitor conversations without the user's knowledge.
Denial of Service: BlueSmacking and Bluetooth DDoS attacks overwhelm devices with large data packets to crash or drain battery life.
Man-in-the-Middle (MITM): Attackers intercept unsecured communications to steal credentials or manipulate data.
Impersonation: BIAS and BLESA attacks trick devices into connecting to malicious hardware by spoofing trusted identities.
Protection involves keeping firmware updated, disabling Bluetooth when not in use, turning off "discoverable" mode, and avoiding pairing with unknown devices. "
This is from AI. This means that bitchat communicating through Bluetooth might be actually big security risk for protests if its used by participants.
Does anyone know if bitchat mitigate this?
As non tech person I would insert couple bad actors then take over network and change communicates, delete proofs of abuse of power in form of videos and photos.

Idea: Before I install something, I often run a simple audit of the codebase to check for obvious backdoors and security problems.
Would it be useful to publish these on Nostr with exact checkpoint ID and model name, so we can save on tokens? Sort of a "I run this prompt, it turned out OK". Agents can look at diffs, or if many trusted people have done the same with various models, the project could get some kind of badge.

The Roughnecks were just a band of plebs doing what they believed in.
They didn't start a company; they didn't ask permission; they just organised themselves and risked their own bitcoins to try and stand against a wall of centralised hash power.

I've been using the upcoming new @nprofile…radp app more than signal for the last couple weeks.
Not just testing stuff, actual real use cases.
The hermes connector is amazing, it makes the app so useful. Can't wait to get this over the finish line and share with y'all.
Sorry again that it's been forever since the last whitenoise release, but we really want to get it right this time.
The main issue still is group reliability, we've made massive progress, but we can still make it better, and it's better to do these consensus changes before we release.
We're spending most time now to make sure group convergence is solid, and we keep adding cool UX and features to the app until the underlying spec and library work matures.
This means when we release, the apps will not only be reliable in sending messages to large groups, but also that it'll have more features than most messenger apps.
It'll be a massive release.
Give us two more weeks ™️ and you'll see.

The real enemy is the fiat system. I don't know why it has to go down like this.
I watched the 2017 Bitcoin Cash fork from the sidelines. What I see today with BIP-110 is eerily familiar.
After that split, something toxic hardened into the chains. Many BCH and BSV supporters still despise Bitcoiners. They insist their fork is the real Bitcoin and dismiss everyone else as captured, compromised, or paid off. Their echo chamber confirmed their beliefs so thoroughly that disagreement became proof of corruption.
The same thing is happening right now as a new Shitcoin is being formed. The same slander. The same personal attacks. The same absolute certainty that the minority chain is righteous and everyone else is the enemy. It's the EXACT same.
Bitcoin needs passionate disagreement. What it doesn't need is another decade of tribal warfare while the actual adversaries of freedom gain ground.
We should be building. We should be fighting the real enemy.
even otherwise smart people are retarded about something.
When you say something has "infinite supply" it means theres an unlimited number of units.
A chain with tail emission NEVER has an unlimited number of units. The supply just increases linearly (or exponentially or whatever the emission rate is), *approaching* infinity as time increases.
The supply is ALWAYS finite, it is always known and it is NEVER infinite.
Its obviously not "infinite supply" and if someone autisticly insists it is, they either dont understand what words mean or have an axe to grind.

The powers that be know that when you have a bamboozled population they'll always vote for their own destruction. This post is not about the clot shots.

I'm in the market for a replacement for BTCPay.
I want a web interface to accept donations on-chain with a unique address each time, accept LN donations, and ideally be able to take payments for an e-commerce platforms like CS-Cart.
If it could also just BE the store, and that'd be fine. Self hostable, without reliance on 3rd party servers (e.g. nostr relays) and without having to run extra services (e.g. a public nostr relay). Simple and open source. That's what I'm after.
This is not because BTCPay had a vulnerability, but because of their handling of it. They intentionally omitted that vulnerability fix from their release notes, making it look like the 2FA fix was the "critical vulnerability" fix.
The people who admin servers need to be able to trust the release notes to be an honest account of what has changed. We're not going to look at every line of code that has changed. We don't have time for that. You know who does have time for that? The attackers.
Had the authors just put a single line in the release notes that said "unauthenticated attacker can get the .macaroon file for LND", I would feel like I could still trust them. Doing so would not have made it any easier for the attackers, they'd still have to read the patch, just the same as they had to do without proper disclosure.
I've worked in infosec for 15+ years, most of that time finding 0-days. We can debate about whether the details and exploit should be released before the patch, at the same time, 30 days later or 90 days later. Reasonable people can draw different conclusions there, even when looking at the same information.
What's not debatable is whether it's good practice to do what they did. Don't take my word for it. Ask anyone who works in the field professionally. Is it okay to say there was a critical vulnerability fixed in a release and then only list one vulnerability fix in the changelog and omit another, mire serious vulnerability that was fixed?
BC is on fire. Picture from the northwest of Faulder and Summerland, both now evacuated. The fire made it some 20km all the way to the distant shore in the pic, after this shot was taken. My sister and brother in law are living in their sprinter van at friends’ until the evacuation is over.

Okay BIP-110ers be 100% honest. Have you..

Be honest or lose what little respect you have.

Instead of having a restful Sunday I planned community events from now until October, coordinated logistics, did some light marketing, and built a website for a group of farmers with some interesting ideas on how to help young folks afford land.
I'm tired 😅 but good day, good day!
pretty much concluding that in order to get the clothes i want with the materials i want, I’m going to have to sew them myself.
Bitkey improvement recommendations:
1. Allow for a second Bitkey to hold the same wallet so you can clone the device and put it in two different locations.
2. Allow for a second App Key, I should be able to create a dedicated phone as a backup for my main phone. You need the app to create receive addresses, but I shouldn't be carrying one of my keys around me with no backup somewhere safe.
If they make these improvements I could recommend it for whole stacks with more confidence.
I like the emergency contact idea to recover the app key.
I like the idea of their inheritance planning.
They listen to feedback, hence the 2nd gen having a screen.
Hope they continue to implement user feedback because it's a good project, just not there yet fully (for me).

One of the most useful things I use my Clanker for is creating podcasts of random things I feel like I want to learn about.
I ask it what topic I want to dive into, how many episodes I need to emphasize the depth, and off it goes.
Spits out ~20-minute podcasts that sound almost like anything you would hear on Spotify, without ads, without bullshit.
My latest is a 10-episode series on Mises.
First two ready.

UC Davis tested 54 processed foods claiming to use avocado oil.
48 failed authenticity testing.
-93% of chips
-71% of mayo
-100% of salad dressings
Many contained other oils, including seed oils.
Reading the label isn't enough anymore.
Guess I’ll just make my own mayo from now on. It’s not that hard.

Now that the outcome of 110 has been established, my focus has shifted to the demeanor of the highly visible anti-110 "bitcoiners" who adamantly expressed opposition.
If this was a "civil war" of ideals and truly defending the network prior to 961,632 (664) then it might be fair to say the gloves were off and any means necessary to obtain one's objective was justified.
Now that we have a decision, many of the "victorious" side have not simply taken the W and moved on. The amount of continued attacks after the fact on their adversaries, has exposed the true character of these individuals.
Perhaps I gave these people too much credit in the past, giving them a pass as they were after all fellow bitcoiners.
This W for them has done more to show their weakness of character even though they feel emboldened by the "in-group" status sought after.
Sadly, I'll never un-see the real person now that the larping mask has been removed. For anyone paying attention, you know who these people are. Be wary, they are NOT your friends. I'll never have that same vibe at a Bitcoin event after this reveal. Maybe I've been too altruistic, therefore it's on me.
Finding the authentic Bitcoin ethos in future meetings with people, now appears more difficult than mining the third BIP-110 block. To those inauthentic actors, should we meet at an event and I'm rude to you d̶o̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶ take it personally.

Maintenance is the most braindead argument against home ownership that I hear all the time.
Freedom and self reliance come with the burden of responsibility. That's a fact of life.
Grow up.
When bitcoin was around 400, it was used as p2p cash with around 60-70k daily tx.
Monero now is in the 350-400 range with about 25k daily tx. This is used as p2p cash.
People who got in to bitcoin around that level is now seen as lucky, and a lot of them made it pretty good for them selves.
If you had the chance again to buy Bitcoin at 400$, you would, I guess.
Might not be such a bad idea. In case it catches on.

Thank you Big Bitcoin for forcing all of the actually principled people into a corner, where will be forced to work with each other to come up with a coin that will ACTUALLY resonate with people. Nobody actually spends bitcoin, so it has no value. A coin that people spend will be the ACTUALLY valuable one, and that takes people not positions of power and privilege

The argument by BIP-110ers that Bitcoin is now a centralized “stock” or “digital credit” is complete non sense. Their fork failed because of no consensus. Plain and simple.
You can use Bitcoin the way it was intended. It’s up to you.
Bitcoin is freedom money, use it as such.

Bitcoin was dealt a serious blow on 8/8 2026. It hurts because we know what was at stake, and what this means. It hurts because most of our enemies are too stupid and ignorant to understand they're rooting against themselves. It hurts because the suits don't care about bitcoin, and never did, and now we know this without a doubt. It hurts because the influencer class betrayed us, and bitcoin. And they were not as smart as we thought. Or they thought.
Sip the whiskey, fire the joint, hit the heavy bag. But then get back here and look at what happened with clear head and eyes. We only fail when we fail to learn from our mistakes.
For what it's worth, here's what I think about the current state of bitcoin:
- Bitcoin is a captured project and we were too late in reacting. We don't know the precise structure of the capture, but it's clear that Core, Strategy (Saylor), Bailey, most of the big mining pools, and a number of other key figures are part of it.
- Miners were almost certainly coached through this via backchannels. All the people wanting to "bet" in prediction markets knew something we didn't.
- Many influencers showed their true colors, possibly also backchanneled, especially ones changing their tune suddenly, without good reason, and without any willingness or ability to engage in debate over the actual principles.
- None of the arguments made by Core proponents and BIP-110 opponents made any sense and still don't. Some of it is stupidity. Some of it tribalism. Some of it is by anti-bitcoiners. But there is a weight in the space that we can't see, except by its gravitational influence. It has warped a great many minds around it. We don't need to know what it is to know it exists.
- The main chain is unsalvageable. Let the suits and scammers and spammers have it. It will turn into etherium and become irrelevant. Not tonight, but eventually. We are early. We are few.
- We are not so few. 20% of the network went all in. It grew from 0% on the principles and merits despite overwhelming opposition from nearly every imaginable corner and entity. That's how we know it got where it did on merit. This wasn't David vs Goliath. This was David vs a legion of Goliaths. And yet, we nearly won. Perhaps if we'd had more time. Perhaps if just a few influences hadn't turned their backs on us. Maybe if Saylor hadn't been quite so evil. We'll never know how close we came.
- I would rather start fresh on a clean coin with the 20% of you who went all in on this than remain with the 80% on the cucked coin. One of you is worth a 100 of them. I believe if we did this, we would eventually outgrow them, the same way we grew support for BIP-110: on the strength of the principles and merits.
The mission hasn't changed. We still need to fix the money. Satoshi almost one-shot this whole thing from nothing. But the one thing he didn't foresee was the corruption of the developers.
We know this can work. We almost got there. I have taken the orange pill and I can't go back inside the fiat matrix now. Let's regroup and figure this out while there's still so many of us riled up. Sulk today, but sober up tomorrow, and lets get back to work.
LFG
Welcome back to the main chain. 🟠
The BIP-110 fork taught us something important, not about who was right, but about how we disagree.
Many of you believed in mandatory signaling. You fought for it because you care about Bitcoin's soul, even when the rest of us said the adoption wasn't there and the direction would lead us down a dangerous road. That conviction deserves respect, not mockery.
The fork is behind us now. What matters is what we do next.
We have real adversaries, financial censorship, regulatory overreach, CBDCs, and an army of rent seekers who want Bitcoin locked down. They're not fighting among themselves. Neither should we.
The path forward isn't "my implementation wins." It's making Bitcoin so resilient, so open, and so undeniable that the people trying to control it have no lever left to pull.
Welcome back. Let's build together.
It’s becoming clearer everyday that A.I. is the new handgun and the Chinese are kicking our ass by stealing our shit and then letting it loose. Trying to constrain Americans will not work. This technology will be open sourced whether the trump admin likes it or not. Open source everything.
From hence forth I renounce my maxihood.
I thought that Bitcoin was a revolution, but it's just another asset class that can be manipulated by the powers that should not be.
It was a fun journey, met a lot of cool interesting people, learned a lot about all sorts of things, but it's safe to say that I no longer believe in the vision originally outlined by Satoshi Nakamoto.
Yours sincerely

My wife is building a health app that’s genuinely private — the kind where the company literally cannot read your data. Not “we promise not to look.” Can’t.
It synthesises your genetics, labs and biomarkers into personalised health guidance, using confidential computing (Maple AI / OpenSecret-style).
She’s hiring a developer with real experience in encryption, secure enclaves, or confidential-compute systems. Non-technical founder, paid work, not a co-founder search.

🌟This week on Life with Bitcoin
What It Feels Like to Mine a Bitcoin Block?
One theme kept coming up throughout this conversation:
The future belongs to participants, not consumers.
In this conversation with @nprofile…5vjs , @nprofile…vevv
shares what participating in mining a Bitcoin block taught her - not just about Bitcoin, but about curiosity, community, music, and the difference between consuming a network and helping build one.
Together, they explore why #Bitcoin , #Nostr , and Value for Value are giving people the tools to move from simply consuming content, music, and communities… to actively helping build them.
We also discuss:
⚡ What it feels like to participate in mining a Bitcoin block
🎵 Why music is one of humanity's oldest forms of connection
🧡 How Value for Value changes the relationship between creators and audiences #V4V
🌍 Why open networks like Nostr encourage participation over passive consumption
One question stayed with me long after we finished recording:
Where in your life are you still consuming… when you could be participating?
